Lighting the Future

For 45 years, Christmas in the Park has brought a million people together every holiday season. Now we’re investing in the next chapter — safer infrastructure, STEAM education for the next generation, and a better experience for every visitor.

“The design and engineering collaboration between San José State University and Christmas in the Park is one of the most impactful real‑world learning experiences our students have at SJSU. It is where design education moves beyond theory and brings together industrial design and engineering majors to design, build, and install interactive, public‑facing work that serves the community while mirroring the multidisciplinary environments they will encounter in industry. I would love to see this partnership continue to grow as an outreach platform where high school students can see what is possible when creativity, technology, and teamwork come together, and begin to imagine themselves pursuing design and engineering at SJSU or other higher‑education institutions.”

— Kohar Scott, Professor of Industrial Design, San José State University
